Short Courses for Everyone at Blackfriars
Blackfriars Studium is offering Short Courses for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith.
While especially intended to support the formation of lay Catholics, the courses are equally open to catechists, teachers, religious and clergy who wish to deepen their knowledge of the faith and its application to Christian life.
Going Deeper to Grow in Faith
Led by Dominican friars and rooted in the Dominican tradition of study, prayer and preaching, the courses draw on Scripture, theology and the wisdom of the Church’s intellectual tradition.
Study has always been at the heart of the Dominican vocation. Through a deeper understanding of the faith, we grow in friendship with Christ, become better equipped to live our baptismal calling, and learn to share the Gospel with others.
Inspirational Study Days
The programme is designed so that participants may attend a single course or follow a three- to four-year cycle, developing a broad and integrated vision of Catholic theology. In this way, the courses seek to form lay people for the joyful and confident living of their faith in today’s world.
Study days are held at Blackfriars, Oxford, providing a beautiful and prayerful setting at the heart of a living Dominican community. Each course combines talks, discussion, prayer, a tour of Blackfriars, and opportunities to build friendships with others who share a desire to grow in faith.
Open to lay people, catechists, teachers, religious and clergy, the courses are available both in person and online. No previous theological study is required.
