Dr Joshua Madden

Lector

Dr Madden lectures on a wide variety of subjects at Blackfriars Studium, including Medieval Theology, Mariology and Biblical Theology. Dr Madden completed his doctoral research at Ave Maria University, Florida, where he received a PhD in Biblical Theology, and he completed a License in Sacred Theology (focused in Marriage & Family Studies) at the International Theological Institute, Austria. Prior to his arrival at Blackfriars, he was a visiting scholar at the Pontifical University of John Paul II, Krakow.

His areas of specialization include Biblical Thomism and Thomas Aquinas, Biblical Theology, Marriage, and Christology. His current research project explores the centrality of the nuptial mystery in Scripture and salvation history, and its relation to the theology of marriage.

He is also an Associate Lecturer at Maryvale Institute, as well as a research advisor for the St John Henry Newman Research Centre for Catholic Theology (Maryvale Institute) Birmingham.

Dr Madden entered into full communion with the Catholic Church in 2008, married in 2011, and is a father to five children.
